Privacy policy

Site operator: Kehila Pro

Kehila helps synagogues manage member relationships, charges, payments and donations. This policy explains the information processed by the service, its purposes and how to make a request about your information.

The platform and your synagogue

Kehila provides the technology. Your synagogue manages its member records, permissions and financial activity. Your sign-in account may be used with more than one synagogue; membership and access are managed separately by each synagogue.

Information and its sources

Information may include your name, email, phone number and other details supplied by you or entered by your synagogue, including imported lists. The service also stores account and verification information, membership requests and status, itemized charges, payments, donations, balances and transaction records. Hosting and authentication services may record technical information such as IP addresses, access times and browser details for operation and security. Providing details on the site is voluntary; without required identification details, account creation, record matching and some services cannot be provided.

How information is used

Information is used to create and secure accounts, match member records, process membership requests, manage charges and payments, display statements and receipts, and send service messages. It is also used for support, troubleshooting and protection against unauthorized use. A synagogue may have a member record before that person creates an online account.

Signing in with Google

If you choose Google sign-in, the service receives basic identity information within the permissions you grant: an account identifier, email address and profile details such as name and profile picture, where provided. These are used for authentication, account creation and member matching. Sign-in does not request access to your Gmail inbox, contacts or calendar. You can revoke access in your Google account settings; revocation alone does not delete records already created in Kehila.

Payments and saved cards

Card details are entered through the payment provider configured for your synagogue, such as Nedarim Plus. Kehila stores transaction information and references, not the full card number or security code. If you choose to save a card, a reusable payment token and display details such as the last four digits and expiry may be stored. The payment provider processes payment details under its own privacy policy.

Access and service providers

Authorized synagogue staff can access information according to their permissions. Platform operators may access information for operation and support. The service uses hosting, database and authentication providers, including Supabase, and email and payment providers for the relevant functions. Google authentication is also involved if you choose Google sign-in. Providers may process information outside Israel. Information may also be disclosed where required by law or to investigate unauthorized use.

Cookies, preferences and notifications

The site uses cookies and browser storage for sign-in, verification and preferences such as accessibility settings. Blocking these may affect the service. If you allow browser notifications, the subscription details needed to send them are stored; permission can be revoked in your browser settings. Operational emails are sent according to your actions and service settings.

Retention and security

The service uses authentication and access controls, but no system can guarantee absolute security. Information is retained for the operational, support, investigation and recordkeeping needs of the service. Deleting an account or leaving a synagogue does not necessarily delete charges, payments and supporting records that need to be retained. Rejection by one synagogue does not automatically delete your sign-in account or records held by another synagogue.

Access, correction and deletion

You may request access to, correction of or deletion of your information, subject to applicable law and the type of record. For member records, charges and payments, contact the gabbai or synagogue administration. Identity verification may be required to handle a request. Where information needs to be retained, this will be considered when handling a deletion request.

Policy updates

This policy may change as the service and applicable requirements change. The update date appears at the top of the page. Material changes requiring notice or consent will be handled in accordance with applicable requirements.
